MailTags and Lion

Lion is Here!

Where is MailTags?

Mail has received a fabulous interface makeover for Lion. Among the great new features of Mail 5.0 in OS X 10.7 are

  • Wide Screen layout (message preview is to the right of the list)
  • Conversation and related messages views so you can read more than one message at once
  • Message snippets in the message list
  • New powerful search functions.

This meant that MailTags had to completely revamp its own interface inside of Mail. The MailTags side panel that we had for years would not work anymore and the changes to the message list meant that we had to devise a new way to display tag information.

To be ready for Lion, we at Indev have been working on MailTags 3 for several months and the effort is about to bear fruit (admittedly a day or two after Lion was released)

As its main feature, MailTags 3 introduces a new tagging interface to blend in with Mail 5.0 new appearance. We have a few other features in the works but they are not announced yet.

Introducing MailTags 3 Preview 3

On Feb 2, 2012 we released "MailTags 3 Preview 3", the compatibility update for OS X 10.7.3

The update to 10.7.3 is on our website http://indev.ca/MailTags3.html.

Upgrading

When OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) was released in August 2009, we were overly ambitious and announce MailTags 3 with a new interface was on its way. We promised customers a free upgrade if they purchased MailTags 2 after August 26, 2009.

We are keeping this promise. MailTags 3 will be a free upgrade for all customers purchasing MailTags after August 26, 2009.
