Mail Act-On 2.1.11 / MailTags 2.6.1 Update Problems
- Are having problems updating to Mail Act-On 2.1.11 or MailTags
2.6.1?
- Do you update Mail later restarts and shows you the same update message?
- Are you having problems with Mail after updating?
- Does Mail Crash or MailTags/Mail Act-On not seem to load after updating
You aren't alone.
We did not catch a critical bug in the software update code until after MailTags 2.6 and Mail Act-On 2.1.10 were in the hands of the users -- This bug will lay dormant until you try to update to a new version and then it will rear its ugly head.
It doesn't happen to everyone and it doesn't happen all the time but it is a problem for those to whom it occurs.
The problem was that the updater was quitting at a random point during the update process, sometimes not doing the update at all, sometimes getting the update half done and leaving both the new version and the old version simultaneously installed.
This bug has been fixed in MailTags 2.6.1 and Mail Act-On 2.1.11 so you will want to get these updates as soon as you can.
What to do if you are having problems updating or after an update.
- Open Finder and navigate to ~/Library/Mail/Bundles (~ is your
Users folder)
- In the list of files you should see your Mail Plugins.
- Remove the MailTags.mailbundle (if there are more than one with
similar names, remove them all)
- Remove the MailActOn.mailbundle (if there are more than one
with similar names, remove them all)
- Reinstall MailTags and Mail Act-On from their installer disk
