Hi, I'd like to make my mail.app work similarly to how gmail processes tags.

  • I receive an email from someone and tag it with "personal", for instance
  • I reply to that message and the tag is kept
  • Someone replies back and the tag is automatically added to this new message

Can you help me with that? How can I make it work using MailTags and MailActon?

Thanks, Luis

    Hi Luis

You can set MailTags to Inherit tags from earlier emails in a chain

for example. You tag an email as you compose. When you receive a reply to your email, You can set up a rule to inherit the tag you set when composing.

You can test this out on our most recent internal builds
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2113086/Prerelease/MT3/MailTags3.0b1727.dmg

To implement it, create a rule with the criteria "every message" and the action "Inherit " where is the tag you want to inherit (eg keyword, project etc)

I'm still at 3.0b1704, but I can see this will be a very useful feature. Is it possible to only inherit my tags, and not the tags from some other MT user?

    Thanks,
